The vision of Gaudium is to enable young minds to be happy, compassionate and passionate lifelong learners in order to aid in creating a better and peaceful world for themselves and the future generations. With strong enthusiasm, energy and motivation to move towards our vision, self-awareness sessions are being organised to students. This session in the month of November focused on the topic “Understanding adolescence”. The prime objective of the session is to make our geckos recognize various vital aspects of adolescence. The awareness session started with an enthusiastic discussion on various abilities a child has during the adolescent age. Geckos gained knowledge on the three important phases of Adolescent life such as early, middle and late adolescence. Important and vital changes that occur in their physical, cognitive and psychosocial aspects were put forward to them during the session. Geckos were elucidated about the 5 I’s – Integrity, Identity, Independence, Intellect and intimacy which play a pivotal role in shaping their future. They were explained about various processes by which these 5 I’s are interconnected and effect their positive and negative behaviours. The session concluded by realising the essence of a quote by famous author Stanley Hall “Adolescence is a new birth, for the higher and more completely human traits are now born”.
