Our geckos are learning about stories and how to express themselves through stories. They are diving deep into the unit and are learning about the elements of the story. To enhance their curiosity, we invited a mystery reader to read stories to our little geckos.

Mystery Readers are special guests who come to our classroom to read a story to students. Students love to see their parents, grandparents, and special friends get involved in our classroom learning experience.

Changing things up a bit and inviting guest readers into the classroom adds variety, exposes students to other readers whose style will obviously be different than the teacher, builds excitement for reading, as the kids do not know who the reader will be, and models for students that adults other than teachers read!

Our mystery reader, Ms. Shona Malhotra read the story “ Legend of rock, paper and scissors”, which is she delivered with a lot of voice modulation which made the story more enjoyable. Our geckos enjoyed the story and its deliverance in a different way. Later Ms. Shona read another story about a boy obsessed with chocolate and he turned everything into chocolate , our geckos reflected on the story and understood that excess of everything is not good.

At the end of the session, our geckos thanked Ms. Shona for the story session and reflected on their understanding very creatively.
