Encouraging students to cultivate a love for reading is essential from an early age, whether for pleasure or to seek information. DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time provides an opportunity for the entire school community to just read for a short period of time for an enriching experience. Inculcating reading habits at a young age will benefit the geckos in the long run. We should be able to take this DEAR time forward by investing at least 15-20 reading time back home to keep the young minds creative.
On the 6th of September, our young geckos of Nursery, PP1 and PP2 celebrated International Literacy Day by observing DEAR time along with their homeroom teachers in the lush green lawn of The Gaudium School, Pre-Primary campus, Nanakramguda. The PP2 geckos enjoyed reading their favourite books, which they brought from their homes. The homeroom teachers of Nursery and PP1 read some storybooks to their students such as ‘Ant and the Dove’, ‘Finding Nemo-The surprise party’, ‘In the garden’ and ‘Rainy day friends’.
It was a time spent well in reading and reflecting.
