Human Rights Day is celebrated annually across the world on 10th December to honour the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption and proclamation of the ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights’, it being the first global enunciation of human rights and one of the major achievements of the UN. The Gaudium School celebrated the day and observed it through a special assembly which was organized on the occasion. The students of Grades 6 – 9 and 11 participated in the virtual special assembly, in which they portrayed humanitarianism and the significance of human rights through a range of cultural performances and thought-provoking speeches. Equality, treating every human being with dignity, and urging everyone to proactively strive to protect and uphold human rights was the message delivered. While the address by Veronica Sarkar of Grade 11 CBSE made quite an impact, Shrestha of Grade 9 CBSE, highlighted the injustices faced by women and advocated for women empowerment. Kriti Meda of Grade 9 CBSE, shared her thoughts on dignity and how each and every human being deserves to be treated equally. There were melodious renditions, as well as artworks displayed. The second half of the assembly was conducted in Hindi Language. The geckos fluently presented their thoughts on the occasion displaying excellent flair of the language. Group presentations, poetry recitation and posters made on theme beautifully conveyed the message of equality, the essentiality of protection of human rights and to stop discrimination on the basis of caste, gender, status, and more. The Principal – CBSE and CAIE congratulated the participants on organizing such a wonderful assembly and also shared her words of wisdom on Human Rights.
