As the POI topic being farm animals we have introduced the children to butterflies and their features. Butterflies are beautiful, flying insects with large scaly wings. Butterflies are very good fliers and the speed varies among butterfly species.Butterflies can only fly if their body temperature is above 86 degrees and hence they sun themselves to warm up in cool weather.Butterflies and moths undergo complete metamorphosis in which they go through four different life stages, egg – larva – pupa – adult.

STUDENT ACTION: The geckos made butterflies by using newspapers. The geckos have acquired knowledge on different farm animals and also insects. The children enjoyed discussing about butterflies as it is very colourful. The children fixed the butterfly on their back and enacted like a butterfly and widened their hands to fly, they enjoyed moving around the classroom like a butterfly.

LEARNING OUTCOME:The geckos learnt different farm animals and also obtained knowledge on various insects. Butterflies were introduced to them through an “A/V” and children had observed the butterflies and their movements. The geckos cut the newspapers with enthusiasm into butterflies and stuck them on their back and started flying like one.
